Join us in St. Johns’, Placentia Bay and Ship Harbour
August 11-14, 2016
In the short span of four days in August 1941, a secret meeting between President Franklin Roosevelt and Prime Minister Winston Churchill took place in Placentia Bay, Newfoundland. During those four days these world leaders created a document that came to be known as the Atlantic Charter, one of the most important documents of the 20th century.
We invite you to join us for a commemorative conference where noted speakers and historians will lead stimulating discussions and present papers on all aspects of the events surrounding the Atlantic Charter. Sites visits and re-enactments of the meetings are all part of the plans.
