Watch as I interview Dr. Peter Vincent Pry. Dr. Pry. He is the Executive Director of the Task Force on National and Homeland Security. Dr. Pry is also the Director of the United States Nuclear Strategy Forum. He has served on the Congressional EMP Commission, the Congressional Strategic Posture Commission, the House Armed Services Committee, and the CIA.

As an expert on national security issues, Dr. Pry has often appeared on television and the radio. In addition, he has also written many books on national security issues such as:

As the Executive Director of the Task Force on National and Homeland Security, Dr. Pry discusses the significance of the Task Force on National and Homeland Security.

The Task Force on National and Homeland Security educates and helps protect the United States from electromagnetic pulse (EMP), cyber attacks, mass destruction terrorism and other threats to civilian critical infrastructures.

Part I: NATO ASSOCIATION OF CANADA

Dr. Pry discusses the impact of natural EMP from a great geomagnetic storm. This is an inevitable threat that many scientists fear is long overdue and may soon recur soon. Critical infrastructures, communications, transportation, banking and finance, food and water, and the sustainability of modern civilization along with the lives of millions of people would be greatly impacted. Dr. Pry discusses the severity of the impact that an electromagnetic pulse (EMP) attack would have on the lives of millions of people. In addition, Dr. Pry discusses the significance of action plans through the establishment of legislation.

Part II: NATO ASSOCIATION OF CANADA

Pry served on the Congressional Commission on the Strategic Posture of the United States from 2008-2009, the Commission on the New Strategic Posture of the United States from 2006-2008, and the Commission to Assess the Threat to the United States from Electromagnetic Pulse (EMP) Attack from 2001-2008. Dr. Pry discusses the impact that these Commissions have made in educating the public about major issues of concern pertaining to both state and non-state actors. Dr. Pry also discusses the challenges associated with the regulatory agencies involved in developing action plans in protecting the Electric Grid.

Former Program Editor of Global Horizons, Magdalena completed a BA in Legal Studies (Honours) and a Masters in Public Service at the University of Waterloo. She also attended Harvard during two summers, where she completed courses in psychology, government, and law. In addition, she successfully completed Harvard Law School’s Executive Education Program in Negotiation and Leadership. Magdalena is currently completing an LLB through University of London’s International Program. She is passionate about law, government, and charitable non-profit organizations. As an avid researcher, she hopes to extend her research to investigate women in security while examining society, culture, and international relations. In addition, Magdalena is also passionate about international business and economy. She is very excited about being involved with various projects at NATO, specifically engaging youth and society about international affairs. Apart from a love of politics, Magdalena enjoys fine art, ballet, and classical music.
