Organized by the NATO Association of Canada, in partnership with the Canada-Ukraine Chamber of Commerce, Embassy of Ukraine in Canada, Consulate General of Ukraine in Toronto, Munk School of Global Affairs and Public Policy, and Mriya Aid, the one-day conference brings together influential voices from across sectors to examine the challenges and opportunities shaping Ukraine’s path forward.
This timely event will explore the future of Ukraine’s NATO membership, the viability of intermediary security guarantees, and the on-the-ground realities for businesses operating in or looking to invest in Ukraine. It will also address the critical role of demining efforts as a foundation for post-war recovery and sustainable reconstruction focusing on:
- The importance of NATO membership for Ukraine both in terms of ensuring its sovereignty & in rebuilding the country to ensure a prosperous future for Ukraine as part of Europe.
- What intermediary security guarantees could look like and what impact they would have on investments and reconstruction; what this would mean for Canadian businesses.
- The importance of securing the ground through demining.

Panel 1. Securing the Foundation: NATO Membership and Intermediary Security Guarantees
The first panel of experts will introduce a broad geopolitical analysis of the recent developments surrounding potential a ceasefire, explain the uncertainties and future of Ukraine’s NATO membership, and assess a scenario where Ukraine does not immediately become a NATO member and the importance of intermediary security guarantees.

The second panel will narrow the scope to consider Ukraine’s business environment on the ground and the tools and opportunities available for Canadian businesses to engage. Our speakers will consider how NATO membership and intermediary security guarantees would impact investments and Canadian businesses.

Exhibits
During the lunch break, attendees will have the chance to attend two exhibits:
- An immersive virtual reality exhibition “Living the War” provided by the Consulate General of Ukraine in Toronto. The exhibition uses virtual reality to show the level of destruction Russia’s war has brought on Ukraine and will allow attendees to engage with the discussions of the conference from a different perspective.
- A demining exhibit created by Mriya Aid demonstrating the hazards and tools used to demine Ukraine.
