Canada’s NATO Podcasts: Interview with Jayne Pilot

We’re back!

Ms. Jayne Pilot is the President of Pilot Performance Resources Management Inc., Vice President of the Canada-Pakistan Business Council, and author of “Driving Sustainability to Business Success-The DS Factor” and “ISO 9001-Guide to Implement and Integrate Quality Management Systems.”

Jayne is an expert in environmental issues and she is passionate about her role in serving a necessary function in solving issues related to waste management. As District Manager in Canada, she set up medical waste disposal for Browning Ferris Industries, receiving President’s award for development of a number of international firsts: medical waste disposal, the diabetic depot system, pharmaceutical waste disposal and international waste disposal.

In 1994 she started her own company working to assist companies in preparing for global business, ensuring their management systems met international standards. She started the first environmental auditor training & e-learning for implementing ISO standards. She has sat on Canada and US Boards for Auditor Certification and wrote their body of skills and knowledge requirements.

Jayne led in assisting many global companies in integrating their management systems achieving effective and efficient processes, reducing risks and being competitive in the global marketplace.

Jayne sits on many committees tied with quality, environment, health & Safety standards, policy and projects. She is a member of the ISO/Technical Committee for Quality in standards development with CSA and Standards Council of Canada.

Magdalena Surma
Magdalena Surma is currently Canada's NATO Program Contributor and Outreach Coordinator. Former Program Editor of Global Horizons, Magdalena completed a BA in Legal Studies (Honours) and a Masters in Public Service at the University of Waterloo. She also attended Harvard during two summers, where she completed courses in psychology, government, and law. In addition, she successfully completed Harvard Law School’s Executive Education Program in Negotiation and Leadership. Magdalena is currently completing an LLB through University of London’s International Program. She is passionate about law, government, and charitable non-profit organizations. As an avid researcher, she hopes to extend her research to investigate women in security while examining society, culture, and international relations. In addition, Magdalena is also passionate about international business and economy. She is very excited about being involved with various projects at NATO, specifically engaging youth and society about international affairs. Apart from a love of politics, Magdalena enjoys fine art, ballet, and classical music.
