Monica Izaguirre-Canales is currently attending Carleton University and is doing her B. A in Global and International Studies, Honours, Specialization in Global Politics. She recently worked as a Research Assistant for Senator Peter M. Boehm in the Senate of Canada. In her role, Monica wrote questions for the Senate Committee on National Security and Defence. The topics included Arctic security and Bill S-7, which will amend the Customs Act and the Preclearance Act, 2016. She previously worked for the Member of Parliament Lloyd Longfield as a Constituency Intern, Development Monitors as a research intern, and Carleton University as a Teaching Development Assistant. Her affiliations include the United Nations Association of Canada as a Sustainable Development Goal Ambassador, the Canadian Red Cross as an Emergency Management Volunteer, and as a Delegate for the Daughter of the Vote. At the NAOC, she is a writer for "NATO and Canada" and a part of the Professional Development program. Monica’s professional focus is on foreign affairs with a specialization in security and intelligence.
