Scott Smith is a twenty-five year public policy veteran, engaging governments at the local, provincial, federal and international levels. Scott is currently working with several technology start-ups in the security and privacy space, most notably as President of Kloke.ai Canada and as a business development consultant for Managedprivacy.ca. Prior to this, Scott was the Senior Director of Innovation and Intellectual Property Policy for the Canadian Chamber of Commerce. As a subject matter expert on issues regarding technology, privacy and security, innovation and intellectual property, Scott has written numerous white papers on data governance, cyber security, artificial intelligence, privacy and intellectual property. Scott has frequently been called upon for testimony before Parliamentary Committees, is a sought after speaker at industry and government events, and has acted as a media spokesperson for the organizations he represented.
BGen (Retd) Roberto Mazzolin joined RHEA Group in October 2018, to establish the cybersecurity portfolio and direction. In this role he works with a broad range of international clients to evolve their programmes and capabilities as well as an increasingly diverse and expanding institutional community within the space and cyber disciplines.
Prior to joining RHEA, General Mazzolin served in a variety of strategic command and staff and deployed roles at all ranks. During his military service, his notable appointments included: responsibility for all Canadian Armed Forces and Department of National Defence Strategic Network; Signals Intelligence; Electronic Warfare and Cyber operations; strategic cyber policy development; and the engineering and programme management of the Canadian Army C4ISR system supporting operations in Afghanistan. Prior to his retirement from service, he also served at United States Cyber Command as the Vice Director for Strategic Policy, Plans, Force Development and Training – the first foreign flag officer to do so.
Throughout his career, he has chaired and participated in many multinational engineering, security, interoperability and standardization programmes within NATO, AUSCANNZUKUS and related military, government and commercial forums.
General Mazzolin holds a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering, Master of Science with specialization in Electronics and Guided Weapon Systems, Master of Arts in Security and Defence Management and Policy, and a PhD in Engineering Management. He is a licensed Professional Engineer and Senior Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. He is an Officer of the Canadian Order of Military Merit, with other awards including the US Legion of Merit, US Meritorious Service Medal, Canadian Chief of Defence Staff Commendation and the Italian Army Chief of General Staff Commendation ‘Encomio Solenne’ in recognition of professionalism and courage for combat actions in Somalia with the ‘Folgore’ Parachute Brigade. He currently serves as a Senior Fellow at the Centre for International Governance Innovation.
Dr. Ramesh Rajaduray- is a co-founder and vice-chairman of IIPCC Greater Toronto Area. He is a registered US and Canadian patent agent, and accomplished IP and technology professional with 14+ years of experience in providing intellectual property services. In his consulting and in-house roles, he has advised and assisted C-level executives in patent matters and worked in a technical consulting capacity with external counsel and patent agents in both North America and Europe. He has assisted in implementing IP strategy for companies of various sizes, as well as working with third party service providers in performing services such as patentability searches, patent drafting and prosecution, IP litigation, IP licensing, and patent acquisition.
He also worked in optical network research in collaboration with organizations such as Intel Corporation, United States Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), JDS Uniphase, Cisco Systems and Stanford University.
Dr. Rajaduray received his Masters of Science and PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of California, Santa Barbara; and a Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical and Electronic Engineering with 1st Class Honours, and a Bachelor of Commerce with majors in Accounting and Finance from the University of Western Australia.
Rachel Babins is a deputy team lead for a project in development at the NATO Cooperative Cyber Defence Centre of Excellence in Estonia. She also works in Incident Response at a major Canadian bank where she has worked in cybersecurity and threat intelligence. Her masters research focused on Russian threats to Canadian critical infrastructure in the energy sector and Russian state-sponsored disinformation campaigns. Rachel has held positions at Natural Resources Canada, where she focused on the physical and cybersecurity of Canadian nuclear facilities and at NATO with the Allied Joint Force Command in Brunssum
