The 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence campaign is designed to release content that increases awareness and understanding of gender-based violence and why we must fight it. It might be over now, but the work never stops. For the campaign, the NATO Association of Canada has compiled an interview series with women doing great work in Canada to showcase why it is important to act against gender-based violence.
Canada’s Minister of Status of Women, the Honourable Maryam Monsef, is widely recognized as one of Peterborough’s most influential people. She was the Vice-President of the YMCA of Peterborough, as well as the Director of the Ontario Public Interest Research Group and of the New Canadians Group. Minister Monsef is also the co-founder of the Red Pashmina Campaign, which empowers women in Afghanistan through education. She now leads Canada’s efforts to ensure all women, girls, and gender non-conforming people have the opportunity to succeed.
