Garrick Ngai

Garrick Ngai is a senior marketing, communications, and strategic engagement professional with more than 20 years of experience supporting Canada’s aerospace, defence, security, and public sectors. His expertise spans strategic communications, stakeholder engagement, business development, and business-to-government (B2G) marketing for government institutions, multinational corporations, and international organizations.

His career includes leadership roles with the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), the United Nations agency headquartered in Montreal, as well as advisory work with Global Affairs Canada and the Public Service Commission of Canada. Earlier in his career, he led strategic marketing and communications initiatives supporting major defence programmes, including Canada’s next-generation fighter capability, military aviation training, and recruitment marketing for the Canadian Special Operations Forces Command.

As Vice President of the NATO Association of Canada, Garrick is actively engaged in strengthening dialogue between government, industry, academia, and Allied partners on defence, security, and emerging geopolitical issues. He also leads the Association’s Montreal Chapter and has played a key role in expanding engagement with government departments, industry leaders, and international partners.

Garrick holds an MBA from the Schulich School of Business at York University and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (UK). He is also a member of Treble Victor and previously served as a mentor with the Prince’s Operation Entrepreneur programme, supporting military veterans pursuing entrepreneurship.

A former Reserve Signals Officer in the Canadian Armed Forces, Garrick continues to advocate for stronger collaboration between government, industry, and the defence community to advance Canada’s security and resilience.

    David Sutton is a Research Analyst at the NATO Association of Canada. David holds a BA in political science and criminology from Western University, as well as a Public Relations and Corporate Communications certificate from Fanshawe College. He served in the Canadian Naval Reserves from 2006 to 2012 as a Naval Combat Information Operator. In that time took part in several operations including the Vancouver 2010 Olympics and Halifax Fleet Review commemorating the Navy Centennial. More recently, he spent three years in China teaching at post-secondary institutions, including Dalian's University of Foreign Languages.
