Hilena Gebregiorgis

Hilena Gebregiorgis is a passionate young professional committed to advancing international cooperation, public policy, and youth engagement. With experience at the intersection of migration, food security, and global governance, she brings a unique lens to shaping inclusive policy frameworks.
Hilena has contributed to youth-centered initiatives through the Ontario Council for International Cooperation, helping to advance strategies aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals and Canada’s Feminist International Assistance Policy. As a delegate at the 2024 World Food Forum in Rome, she represented the United Nations Association in Canada alongside other youth delegates, participating in high-level discussions on global food security.
She has also engaged in policy work focused on climate-smart trade and diaspora engagement as an 1834 Global Fellow, further deepening her commitment to diplomacy.

    As a leading member of the Atlantic Treaty Association (ATA), NATO Association of Canada has strong and enduring ties with sister organizations in many of the alliance countries, as well as members of NATO’s “Partnership for Peace” and “Mediterranean Dialogue” programmes. The NAOC has had a leading role in the recent transformation and modernization of the ATA, and helped to create and develop the Youth Atlantic Treaty Association (YATA).

    The NAOC has strong ties with the Government of Canada including Global Affairs Canada and the Department of National Defence. We are constantly working to create and maintain relationships with international organizations such as the World Bank Group, the European Bank of Reconstruction and Development, NATO Headquarters, the International Criminal Court, and other prominent international NGOs and think tanks.
