Aidan Murphy is an International Affairs student at the University of Toronto Mississauga and is originally from Toronto. He has a strong passion for geopolitics and economics, with particular interests in international security, global cooperation, trade, and the ways political and economic developments shape relations between countries.
Through his studies, Aidan has developed a growing interest in the role international institutions and alliances play in responding to emerging global challenges. He is especially interested in NATO’s contribution to international security, transatlantic cooperation, and the maintenance of stability in an increasingly complex geopolitical environment.
As a member of the Events Team, Aidan hopes to contribute to raising awareness of NATO’s mission, values, and continued importance. He looks forward to supporting events that encourage meaningful discussion about NATO, international security, and current geopolitical issues. Through this internship, he also hopes to expand his knowledge of international affairs, strengthen his professional skills, and connect with others who share his interest in geopolitics and global security.

As a leading member of the Atlantic Treaty Association (ATA), NATO Association of Canada has strong and enduring ties with sister organizations in many of the alliance countries, as well as members of NATO’s “Partnership for Peace” and “Mediterranean Dialogue” programmes. The NAOC has had a leading role in the recent transformation and modernization of the ATA, and helped to create and develop the Youth Atlantic Treaty Association (YATA).
The NAOC has strong ties with the Government of Canada including Global Affairs Canada and the Department of National Defence. We are constantly working to create and maintain relationships with international organizations such as the World Bank Group, the European Bank of Reconstruction and Development, NATO Headquarters, the International Criminal Court, and other prominent international NGOs and think tanks.
