Francesco Sorbara, BA (Hon), MA, CFA, is a seasoned finance and public policy leader with more than 15 years of experience in global capital markets and a decade of service in Canada’s Parliament.
He most recently served as Special Policy Advisor to the Minister of Finance at the Department of Finance Canada, contributing to Budget 2025 and managing caucus relations. From 2015 to 2025, Sorbara was the Member of Parliament for Vaughan–Woodbridge in the Parliament of Canada, where he served as Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministers of Revenue and Finance, and held leadership roles in key parliamentary committees and international associations, including for multiple years, chairing the Canada-Europe Parliamentary Association (CAEU) and serving as Vice-Chair of the Canada-United States Inter-Parliamentary Group (CEUS).
Prior to public service, he built a distinguished career in the global financial markets (capital markets / corporate finance) in New York City and Toronto at Scotia Capital, Morningstar DBRS, and JPMorgan Chase, specializing in corporate debt markets, industrial ratings, and global investment banking. He holds a Master of Arts in Economics from the University of Toronto, a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) from Simon Fraser University, a Minor in Business Administration, a Certificate in Liberal Arts, and is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charterholder.
