“The NATO Council of Canada’s Tribute Dinner 2013 in honor of Troels Frøling”
Each year, the NCC will recognize an individual who has made a significant contribution to international peace and security, and to furthering the values the founding members set forth in the North Atlantic Treaty: “to safeguard the freedom, common heritage and civilization of their peoples, founded on the principles of democracy, individual liberty and the rule of law.” This year’s recipient of the International Peace and Security Award is Troels Frøling, a man renowned for establishing ambitious projects which target the growth of civil society within struggling democracies. Mr. Frøling made it his priority to establish Atlantic Treaty Associations in Eastern European countries, to assist in the rebuilding of their civil society.
