Rudy Yuan

Rudy Yuan is a Junior Research Fellow at the NATO Association of Canada writing for the Society, Culture, and Security program. He is in his final year of undergraduate studies at Trinity College, University of Toronto, majoring in international relations and German studies. Mr. Yuan is deeply committed to the transatlantic security and cultural relationship, concurrently serving as the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) Young Ambassador at the University of Toronto. His fields of interest include Canadian and European security policy, international relations history, and Canadian and German politics. He has worked in the past with the G20 Research Group researching compliance with macroeconomic and development commitments, and is a contributor on German and Canadian security policy in the University of Toronto’s student newspaper and undergraduate journals. Outside the NATO Association, Mr. Yuan is currently undertaking research on conflicting memory narratives in Germany and their legacies in contemporary German politics, as well as the French nuclear program’s role in European collective security.

The NAOC has had a leading role in the recent transformation and modernization of the ATA, and helped to create and develop the Youth Atlantic Treaty Association (YATA).

    The NAOC has strong ties with the Government of Canada including Global Affairs Canada and the Department of National Defence. We are constantly working to create and maintain relationships with international organizations such as the World Bank Group, the European Bank of Reconstruction and Development, NATO Headquarters, the International Criminal Court, and other prominent international NGOs and think tanks.
