Keya Patel

Keya Patel is the Program Editor for the Environment, Climate Change, and Security program at the NATO Association of Canada, where she explores the intersections of sustainability, security, and global cooperation.

She is a fourth-year student at the University of Toronto specializing in Economics with a Minor in Political Science. Her academic interests include health economics, public policy, and international affairs. Reflecting these interests, she has been selected to join UofT’s Delegation to the Global Model World Health Organization Conference hosted by the World Federation of United Nations Associations, which will take place in Geneva in October 2025.

Beyond her academic work, Keya holds a number of leadership roles on campus. She serves as Co-President of the Undergraduate Economics Council and President of the Pareto Undergraduate Journal of New Economists, where she champions student-led research and interdisciplinary dialogue. She also previously served as Co-President of the Global Health Organization. In addition, Keya has worked in student housing for three years, first as a Residence Don and now as a Residence Education Facilitator or REF, where she enjoys mentoring and supporting students.

She has also contributed to research in education economics as a Research Assistant on the Khoaching with Khan Academy (KWiK) /Numi Project, which focuses on integrating AI to scale learning at an individualized level.

Passionate about advancing dialogue across disciplines and borders, Keya aspires to contribute to research and policymaking at the nexus of health, economics, and international cooperation.

    The NAOC has strong ties with the Government of Canada including Global Affairs Canada and the Department of National Defence. We are constantly working to create and maintain relationships with international organizations such as the World Bank Group, the European Bank of Reconstruction and Development, NATO Headquarters, the International Criminal Court, and other prominent international NGOs and think tanks.
