Candace Singh

Candace serves as Program Editor for the Women in Security Program at the NATO Association of Canada. She holds a Master’s degree in Art History from the University of St Andrews with a focus on International Relations, Gender and Feminist Theory, and Conflict in Visual Culture. Candace’s scholarly interests include culture and society, public policy, and international law as it pertains to women’s issues.

Candace’s professional work to date includes serving as a Research Analyst for the London-based NGO Action on Armed Violence (AOAV), where her work investigated armament in the United States. Currently, she works as a Policy Analyst for the Centre for International Security and Economic Strategy (CISES), where her interests lie in international development, security, and militarism.

Beyond this, Candace actively contributes to scholarly research in publications and at conferences. Her forthcoming publication in the St Andrews Law Journal is entitled “Arsenal of Peace: Feminist Reflections on Gender-Responsive Disarmament and the Challenges of International Law’s Framework for Security” (2026), which explores international human rights law and disarmament as it affects gender. Her prior research includes conferences in Portugal and the UK, revisiting historical challenges of anti-fascist resistance, solidarity, and representation.

Candace is excited to support the NATO Association of Canada, contributing to research and discourse on women, security, and development.

The NAOC has had a leading role in the recent transformation and modernization of the ATA, and helped to create and develop the Youth Atlantic Treaty Association (YATA).

    The NAOC has strong ties with the Government of Canada including Global Affairs Canada and the Department of National Defence. We are constantly working to create and maintain relationships with international organizations such as the World Bank Group, the European Bank of Reconstruction and Development, NATO Headquarters, the International Criminal Court, and other prominent international NGOs and think tanks.
