Joseph McQuade

Dr. Joseph McQuade is Editor-in-Chief at the NATO Association of Canada and a SSHRC Postdoctoral Fellow at the Asian Institute, a branch of the University of Toronto’s Munk School of Global Affairs and Public Policy. He is also an affiliate of the Global History Initiative at Queen’s University and the Canadian Network for Research on Terrorism, Security and Society. He is the current Program Editor of the NATO Association’s Centre for Disinformation Studies, and contributes as Managing Editor at the Journal of Indian Ocean World Studies.

As a Gates Scholar at the University of Cambridge, Dr. McQuade completed his PhD in History in 2017. He is currently finishing the manuscript for a forthcoming book titled ‘Assassins by Profession: Empire, Law, and the Making of Modern Terrorism’. He has published in academic journals such as the Journal of World History, History Compass, and Sikh Formations, as well online platforms including The Conversation Canada and has made media appearances on CTV National News and CBC: The World At Six, as well as on other podcasts and radio programs.

Dr. McQuade currently teaches and publishes on topics related to global terrorism, international affairs, disinformation studies, and South Asian history, politics, and culture.
