April 4, 2024 will mark 75 years of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization ensuring the collective defence of its member countries through political and military means. Since its establishment on April 4, 1949 with the signing of the North Atlantic Treaty by 12 founding members, the alliance has grown to 31 members with the Government of Canada ratifying the North Atlantic Treaty and officially joining the founding members on April 30, 1949.
In 2024, the NATO Association of Canada will be organizing major events in Ottawa, Toronto, Montreal, and Vancouver. Eight of these events will center around the eight NAOC programs: NATO & Canada; Centre for Disinformation Studies; Cybersecurity and Emerging Threats; Energy Security; Society, Culture and Security; Security, Trade and the Economy; Women in Security; Indo Pacific and NATO. In addition to these events, the NAOC will be organizing a wide array of cultural initiatives, sports events, educational programs for the youth, and speeches from past Ministers of Defence, Foreign Affairs, and Ambassadors.
To showcase Canada’s role and contributions to the alliance from sea to sea, we also intend to highlight and support signature events being hosted by military, educational, and cultural organizations across the country. If your organization is planning or is interested in planning an event to highlight its part in NATO’s history or present day operations and would like to be featured in our 2024 event calendar, please contact us at bogdana.torbina@natoassociation.ca

The mission of NATO Association of Canada is to promote peace, prosperity, and security through knowledge and understanding of the importance of NATO.
We strive to educate and engage Canadians about NATO and NATO’s goal of peace, prosperity and security. NATO Association of Canada ensures that we have an informed citizenry able to contribute to discussions about Canada’s role on the world stage.
As a leading member of the Atlantic Treaty Association (ATA), NATO Association of Canada has strong and enduring ties with sister organizations in many of the alliance countries, as well as members of NATO’s “Partnership for Peace” and “Mediterranean Dialogue” programmes. The NAOC has had a leading role in the recent transformation and modernization of the ATA, and helped to create and develop the Youth Atlantic Treaty Association (YATA).
The NAOC has strong ties with the Government of Canada including Global Affairs Canada and the Department of National Defence. We are constantly working to create and maintain relationships with international organizations such as the World Bank Group, the European Bank of Reconstruction and Development, NATO Headquarters, the International Criminal Court, and other prominent international NGOs and think tanks.
