We’re back!

Listen as I interview Mr. Robert Baines. He is the Executive Director of the Canada-Albania Business Council and he is a Corporate Development Officer at the NATO Association of Canada. Mr. Baines successfully completed an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree in Politics, Philosophy and History at the University of Toronto at Trinity College. In addition, Mr. Baines also successfully completed a Master of Arts in History at York University.

The Canada-Albania Business Council (CABC) promotes investment and trade by Canadian companies interested in Albania. The CABC also provides a number of different services to members. This includes the scheduling and coordination of a number of activities and events. Listen as Mr. Baines discusses the impact of the CABC and the NATO Association of Canada.

NATO ASSOCIATION OF CANADA PART I

As a Chair of the Canadian Naval Centennial, Mr. Baines previously organized the Canadian Navy’s Centennial Gala in Toronto. This involved coordination with the Canadian Forces, the Naval Officer’s Association, embassies of NATO member states, Business Councils and the Department of Foreign Affairs. This was one of his many successes. Listen as Mr. Baines discusses some of his most rewarding moments. In addition, he provides valuable advice to those interested in pursuing a career in international relations and diplomacy.

    Magdalena Surma is currently Canada's NATO Program Contributor and Outreach Coordinator. Former Program Editor of Global Horizons, Magdalena completed a BA in Legal Studies (Honours) and a Masters in Public Service at the University of Waterloo. She also attended Harvard during two summers, where she completed courses in psychology, government, and law. In addition, she successfully completed Harvard Law School’s Executive Education Program in Negotiation and Leadership. Magdalena is currently completing an LLB through University of London’s International Program. She is passionate about law, government, and charitable non-profit organizations. As an avid researcher, she hopes to extend her research to investigate women in security while examining society, culture, and international relations. In addition, Magdalena is also passionate about international business and economy. She is very excited about being involved with various projects at NATO, specifically engaging youth and society about international affairs. Apart from a love of politics, Magdalena enjoys fine art, ballet, and classical music.
