Jessica Morris

Jessica holds a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of Ottawa. Jessica’s academic interests include public policy, political thought, popular culture, international affairs, and the empowerment of women and girls internationally.

While completing her degree, Jessica represented the University of Ottawa at the National Model United Nations in New York City, participating in the Commission on the Status of Women, where her committee developed and defended resolutions to empower rural women and girls. She also served as VP Events for Girl Up, a UN Foundation initiative, where she led informative events focused on international issues facing women and girls, such as gender-based violence, female genital mutilation, sexual health, and digital gender equity.

Jessica completed co-op terms at the Canada Revenue Agency and with the federal Deputy Minister of Labour. Since graduating, Jessica has worked in various roles in policy within Ontario’s Ministry of the Solicitor General. She currently works as a Policy Analyst in the Animal Welfare Policy Unit. Each experience has strengthened her skills in research, evidence-based policy analysis, strategic communication, and stakeholder engagement.

Beyond government, she also serves as a Board Member of the Danforth Jewish Circle, a progressive Jewish community organization, where she organizes programming for youth outreach, advocates for interfaith families, and steers community engagement.

Jessica is thrilled to be serving as Program Editor for the Women, Peace, and Security program at the NATO Association of Canada. She is passionate about recognizing the disproportionate impact of conflict on women and girls, and certain that women’s participation is crucial in all peace processes.
