Justinas Stankus

Justinas Stankus is a Senior Editor for the NATO Association of Canada, where he oversees the Indo-Pacific and NATO program. An EU citizen, he is currently pursuing a PhD in Political Science at the University of Toronto. His research focuses on asymmetric warfare and contested sovereignties, with a particular emphasis on Southeast Asia. Justinas has a background in law and brings an interdisciplinary perspective to his work, combining insights from international relations, legal studies, and political anthropology.

He has previously worked for a Myanmar-based institute involved in technical and policy support for the national ceasefire process, as well as for the European Investment Bank. His broader interests include international security, multilateral defense cooperation, and the strategic future of NATO. He closely follows security developments in Eastern Europe, particularly how the Baltic states are adapting their defense strategies amid growing uncertainty about NATO’s Article 5 guarantees.
