Behzad Hakim holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Finance from Toronto Metropolitan University. He possesses extensive experience in strategic finance and sales, having worked at consumer goods giants such as Restaurant Brands International, Procter & Gamble, and Unilever.

The Taliban’s takeover of Afghanistan, nullifying two decades of sacrifice and efforts to establish democracy, deeply impacted Behzad, whose parents had fled Afghanistan during the civil war. As a reaction, Behzad founded the TMU Afghan Association, a dedicated group opposing the Taliban regime and advocating for human rights. Behzad is committed to promoting democratic values and ensuring that the voices of those suppressed are heard.

As an Engagement Coordinator at the NATO Association of Canada, Behzad is on a mission to educate individuals about the significance of the international rules-based order, the essence of democracy, and the importance of national security.
