We are honoured to work with a great community of civic-minded Canadians who are aware of the importance of NATO and security in Canada and are proud to have their names listed below.
“It is essential for Canada to sustain our engagement within NATO’s multi-lateral relationships for our collective deterrence and defence via our Canadian Armed Forces. In the midst and advance of varied potential threats, this involvement is crucial. In direct support of NATO, NAOC fosters diplomacy and education in a think-tank environment.”
– Gertrude Kearns
“L’OTAN est une force militaire essentielle à la protection de la démocratie au sein des pays occidentaux. Dans une pluralité et une diversité de pays, elle représente une union protégeant non seulement les frontières, mais qui défend les valeurs universelles, dont la démocratie, la liberté, et l’égalité.”
– Martin Barrette
“With an expanding China and the uncertain United States, it is absolutely essential for Canada to strengthen its ties with NATO, to safeguard our own freedom and security and those of all the members of NATO .and also to ensure that democracy and individual freedoms are not snuffed out in other parts of the world.
We fought in two World Wars to establish this, and we helped create NATO after World War Two to ensure this.”– John Palkhivala
“At a moment when liberal democracies are challenged from within and without, NATO with its commitment to multilateral collaboration and democratic principles becomes particularly important. Canada’s voice within NATO has become more critical for the organization and for Canada itself.”
– John English
“As potential threats become increasingly globalized and complex, it is critical for NATO member countries to foster and grow collective and cooperative defence initiatives. While the challenges faced today differ from those of the Cold War, the importance of NATO and multilateral cooperation remain unchanged.”
– Andrew Horne
“As a multinational alliance, NATO creates a stronger impact on democracy and freedom, then any member state could alone. With the turmoil in the world, Canada must maintain its commitment to NATO and strengthen its ties with NATO members to ensure the continuity of Canadian democratic values for future generations.”
– Andrew Cansfield
“Security is crucial to the design and operations of the CSC Type 26 Warships being designed for Canada. Warships consist of many components such as command and control, navigation, communication, mechanical equipment, above-water sensors, underwater sensors, propulsion, surveillance, situational awareness, emergency response, and weapons. As Cyber Threats continue to evolve, developing cybersecurity measures and technologies, become imperative for responding to cyber incidents that may unfold during a real-life crisis.”
– Kathleen Legere
“In 2016, US defence policy analyst Tom Nichols commented on Twitter that it would be up to Europe and Canada to carry the weight of defending the free world. He had NATO in mind. In 2018, Canada, Europe, and NATO can proudly say, “We bore the burden. Welcome home, America.”
– Eric Morse
“I worked in Europe on various NATO duties for almost 12 years and valued them immensely. We developed excellent joint capabilities to counter the Soviet Union and the Warsaw Pact at the time, and we were privileged to be collaborating with great allies and their militaries. These are times that made a difference and the alliance has now evolved in such beneficial ways.”
