Mike Ward

Mike Ward is an international security and business specialist with extensive public- and private-sector experience in strategic analysis, international relations, and market dynamics. A former Canadian Foreign Service Officer, he served in senior diplomatic roles in Türkiye, Saudi Arabia, Poland, Ukraine, the United States, and Thailand.

A frequent speaker at public-policy forums, he has contributed to discussions on topics ranging from Canada’s leadership in the Ottawa Treaty banning anti-personnel landmines to international energy security and the political dynamics shaping Europe and the MENA region.

He works to strengthen public understanding of NATO and transatlantic security while supporting initiatives that help Canadian defence and dual-use technology startups grow and build partnerships with organizations across Canada and the NATO alliance.

His community service has focused on expanding affordable and supportive housing, including serving as President of the Multifaith Housing Initiative and as a founding Board Member and Governance Committee Chair of Veterans’ House Canada. He has also contributed to initiatives aimed at improving the mental health and well-being of family caregivers.

The NAOC has had a leading role in the recent transformation and modernization of the ATA, and helped to create and develop the Youth Atlantic Treaty Association (YATA).

    The NAOC has strong ties with the Government of Canada including Global Affairs Canada and the Department of National Defence. We are constantly working to create and maintain relationships with international organizations such as the World Bank Group, the European Bank of Reconstruction and Development, NATO Headquarters, the International Criminal Court, and other prominent international NGOs and think tanks.
