Katherine Zhang currently works as a Trade Assistant with the U.S. Commercial Service in Toronto, where she conducts market research and supports trade promotion initiatives and commercial engagement. She holds an MSc in International Relations from the London School of Economics and Political Science and an Honours Bachelor of Arts in International Relations and Public Policy from the University of Toronto.
Her previous experience includes work with the Political and Economic Section of the U.S. Consulate General in Toronto and the American Chamber of Commerce in Canada. She has also held research and leadership roles with the G20 and BRICS Research Groups at the University of Toronto, examining international commitments and policy implementation across major economies. Her academic research has explored constructive IR, collective and cultural memory, and the role of state institutions in constructing and institutionalizing historical narratives that shape national identity and political discourse.
Her research interests include Indo-Pacific security, Chinese foreign policy, economic security, and international trade.

As a leading member of the Atlantic Treaty Association (ATA), NATO Association of Canada has strong and enduring ties with sister organizations in many of the alliance countries, as well as members of NATO’s “Partnership for Peace” and “Mediterranean Dialogue” programmes. The NAOC has had a leading role in the recent transformation and modernization of the ATA, and helped to create and develop the Youth Atlantic Treaty Association (YATA).
The NAOC has strong ties with the Government of Canada including Global Affairs Canada and the Department of National Defence. We are constantly working to create and maintain relationships with international organizations such as the World Bank Group, the European Bank of Reconstruction and Development, NATO Headquarters, the International Criminal Court, and other prominent international NGOs and think tanks.
