Danielle Santana

Danielle Berges Santana is originally from the Dominican Republic and serves as an Event Coordinator with the NATO Association of Canada. She holds an undergraduate degree in Political Science with a specialization in Global Citizenship from McMaster University, where she focused on the interconnectedness of nations and the role of advocacy, ambassadorship, and international relations in a globalized world. In August 2026, she completed her MA in Global Politics at McMaster University.
Her graduate research examined established trends in the Global South, particularly Latin America. She focused on populism and far-right politics, the national security threats posed by populist rhetoric, and the securitization narratives that fuel these movements in countries such as El Salvador, Argentina, and, more recently, Chile.
Danielle believes deeply in pursuing peace through diplomacy, agreements, and international cooperation, and she strives to lead every project with those principles in mind. She approaches the world critically while assuming that positive change is always possible. Many voices deserve to be heard, and through collaboration they have the power to shape the future of security, welfare, and human life.
At the NATO Association of Canada, Danielle hopes to continue that pursuit and to take part in a community that empowers people, starts dialogue, and keeps prioritizing peace and security for all.
