About the Speaker:

Major John Malevich is an Armoured Officer of Lord Strathcona’s Horse (Royal Canadians). Until July 2011, he was at the US Army/USMC Counter-Insurgency (COIN) Center in Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, serving as the COIN Branch Chief. He received a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Western Ontario and a Master of Arts in War Studies from the Royal Military College of Canada.

Maj Malevich has served in command and staff positions in Canada, Afghanistan and Europe, including the Strategic Advisory Team in Afghanistan as an advisor and planner. He worked on the Afghan National Development Strategy and served as the Security Advisor to the Independent Election Commission of Afghanistan.
