“Pridefully” Serving in Canada’s Military

In keeping with the evolution of social thinking about sexuality and sexual orientations, the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) have continued to take steps to be more welcoming to and more inclusive of all its members. In 2016, the CAF introduced the CAF Diversity Strategy action plan to provide a formal framework for cultural change. What are some of the milestones achieved and the continuing challenges being addressed by the CAF? How do the experiences of LGBTQ members in uniform today reflect these successes and remaining hurdles?
