Conference: Canada, NATO, and the Asia-Pacific

The NATO Association of Canada presents “Canada, NATO, and the Asia-Pacific: NATO’s Western Flank,” a conference on security and defence issues in the context of future prospects for expanded NATO partnerships and engagement in the Asia-Pacific.

Three speakers, encompassing NATO, Canadian and American strategic perspectives, will discuss the possible future uses of partnership and engagement in the Asia-Pacific for NATO.

The event will feature a 30 minute closing key note speech by Canadian Minister of Defence Harjit Sajjan. General Jean-Paul Palomeros, immediate past NATO Supreme Allied Commander Transformation, Kelly Magsamen, United States Assistant Secretary of Defense for Asian and Pacific Security Affairs, and Fred Kempe, President and CEO, Atlantic Council of the United States, will each speak on an aspect of NATO’s future engagement with the Asia Pacific. Hugh Stephens, a Senior Fellow at the Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada will moderate the event.

There will be a 30 minute opening reception and the event will be followed by a one hour cocktail reception, presenting a valuable opportunity for speakers, moderators, sponsors, and invited guests to meet each other.
